3 Ideas to treat mum on Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is this weekend - it’s time to decide what you’ll set out to find when you head on your last minute ‘mum shop’! This article was originally written in 2024 and has been refreshed for Mother's Day 2025We all know it can be difficult in our busy, mass-produced world to find something unique, yet affordable and thoughtful - especially when time is running short…
But never fear - this year can be different! Being able to bring the local little guys into your planning with the help of Passmebuy, means a gift that mum will love is within convenient reach.
We’ve summarised a few ideas below to get the creative juices flowing and your hunt for the perfect gift started and done in no time.
A Beauty Treatment or Skincare Products
Treat your mum to a day of pampering and relaxation, allowing her to unwind and rejuvenate. Whether it's a soothing massage, a revitalising facial, or a glamorous manicure and pedicure session, there are plenty of options to choose from to give her a little “me-time”. A beauty treatment not only offers physical benefits but also provides a serene escape from the daily grind.
We have plenty of home-based beauty salons on Passmebuy, and amazing makers of natural beauty products. Here’s a few of them.

A Coffee and/or Treat Date
Have you considered inviting your mum out for a delightful coffee & kai date? Amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, taking the time to sit down with her, or take a stroll with a steaming cup of soothing caffeine, or delectable treat in hand, can be a simple yet meaningful way to show your appreciation. Local coffee & food trucks provide a wonderful ambience for a catch-up in the open air - what could be better!
Brewed Awakening North Canterbury, a brand-spanking-new Mobile Coffee Van in North Canterbury - one who carries treats for your equine friends as well!
Dandelion & Clover is booked out till 2pm on Mother's Day (2025) but that still leaves two hours (they close at 4pm) and what a space! On the outskirts of West Melton this special spot has an "always up" bouncy castle for the kids, beautiful coffee and treats and a delectable assortment of locally made and sourced gifts and wares for you to browse and take home with you as a special reminder of a beautiful day! Why not take mum along with a budget for a coffee and self-selected gift, blissfully chosen while the wee ones have a ball outside.
Other options to consider include Dolce Pizza overlooking Lake Tekapo, and Bespoke Cafe in Hokitika.....or you could grab a superb low guilt treat from Goodness Cakes, in Somerfield Auckland!
Oh - and my absolute favourite, a bike ride followed by a coffee and/or ice-cream at Cycling the Dream at McLeans Island Recreation Reserve in Christchurch.
Explore Little Local Treasure Shops
Passmebuy is proud to boast many little local haunts of treasure on its map - I'm talking the wee "hidden gem" shops you could spend hours in gently poking and prodding and marveling at the creative abilities of others, and potentially leaving with more little treasures than you intended or needed! Let me outline a few heading down the Country;
These are individual's in the broader Auckland region but they're super clever I couldn't help but mention StitchGirl (anyone else shamelessly need some new oven mits?!), Multifish Small Leather Goods & Thrive Leather Goods.
Paint Me Vintage in Tauranga - amazing furniture fun!! Stencils, decoupage, furniture crafting - think "shop my shed" fun - colour, patterns, matching, transfers, stamps - gorgeousness!!
Flossie & Dean in Napier, from headwear to alterations, to eco cleaning, bodycare products and quality preloved clothing - a great spot to explore!
The goodies on offer at Living Arts Gallery in Golden Bay rival the natural beauty of the area - not exaggerating!
Nanma's & Friends is a small craft collective in Ross, on the West Coast. The local team have a wide array of goodies from plants to preserves, gorgeous knitting and children's clothes, honey, candles, jewellery and even locally inspired kitchenware.
In North Canterbury you have Mingle Mangle, Beyond the Bloom & Gracebrook, and in Selwyn we have Dandelion & Clover.
Last but far from least, neat Temuka, Austin's Milford Store offers a craft shop, crafting classes, devonshire tea and treats, and you can even "park over" and camp the night if you like!
Beauty treats, yummy food or locally sourced crafts are three wee ideas, but there are many more available if you open up www.passmebuy.co.nz and browse what is local to you!
